Chicago Theatre

The Chicago Theatre opened its doors on October 26, 1921. The grand edifice was earlier called “the Wonder Theatre of the World.” The elegance of the theatre lies in the interiors of the theatre- the spacious lobby, majestic staircase and beautiful auditorium, complete with murals above the stage and on the ceiling.

The owners of the theatre Barney and Abe Balaban and Sam and Morris Katz spent million. It was designed by Cornelius and George Rapp. It was the flagship of the Balaban and Katz theatre chain. The theatre's exterior is surely a replica of Paris' Arc de Triomphe. Later, Theatre Dreams Chicago, LLC became the owner and operator of The Chicago Theatre. The Chicago Theatre offers a variety of performances, including musical theatre, concerts, dance, comedy, family and special events.

A visit to the theatre is sure relaxing after the maddening rush of vehicles and pollution of highway. This legendary theatre is a symbol of the city itself. The auditorium can accommodate 3,600 people. Besides, the stage and the backstage are suitable for concerts, dance, comedy and music operas.

The theatre is suitably located and has an easy access. There are a number of parking garages surrounding the theatre, but the Randolph Wabash Self- Park operated by Inter Park is the closest.
