Festival Theatre was founded in 1975 by Oak Park resident Marion Karczmar and thereby the name, Oak Park Festival Theatre.

The theatre is under contract with Actors' Equity Association, producing the works of William Shakespeare. What sparkles the eye and appeals the heart the most is the thrilling entertainment, performances, concerts, dance and comedy. All this brings forth refreshing vivacity. The theatre has produced some of the astounding works in Bard's language.

The year 2006 has marked the 31st consecutive year of expanded classic productions in Oak Park, an unmatched accomplishment in the Chicago area.

The theatre features the popular Family Days which allow kids and grownups to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. It sure provides an escape from the honking horns and rushing traffic. Here, classics are brought back to life.

The theatre also hosts springtime production- Sunday Storytelling Series and touring Classics Connection. If interested, you can opt for the memberships. Long or short term, creative, independent and team opportunities are offered here.
