Established in 2003, Chicago International Documentary Festival (CIDF) is a spectacular event related to the celebration and cultivation of the documentary film.
Being a premier film festival, it inspires a world of cultures as well as ideas. The venue showcases the works of established as well as the emerging artists of the documentary films.
Over $ 50,000 in unrestricted cash plus other prizes are awarded by the jury. This is a no profit organization which totally relies on individuals, businesses and government for its funds.
During the year 2005, edition took place in eight venues which included one hundred extraordinary films and more than fifty invited filmmakers visit the grand venue.
About fifteen films were selected to the main competition section (Chicago Doc Grand Prix) and the same number of short documentaries took part in the short film competition section (Chicago Doc Short Film Grand Prix).
All participating films, except for retrospectives and special programs, were eligible for the other awards.
