Harper Court Shopping Center

Located in the heart of the historic Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago, The Harper Court Shopping Center is a unique collection of neighborhood shops and tantalizing restaurants. The remarkable feature of the Harper Court is the bringing in of quality stores and restaurants to Hyde Park and the south side of Chicago for the past 30 years.

The Harper Court Foundation - - a not- for- profit organization - was formed in 1963. The first shops of Harper Court were opened in July 1965. There was an eclectic mix of retailers, musicians and craftsmen that gave the new shopping center the charm and feel of an artists' colony.

The whole aim of the Harper Court Foundation, HCF, was to promote the cultural and economic development of Hyde Park- Kenwood by providing retail space to the 23 retail stores, restaurants and services of the shopping center.

Later on, in 1990, The Harper Court Arts Council a non- profit, tax exempt organization was created to support the arts. In the near future, the Arts Council aims to provide artistic experiences for kids in schools so as to provide the kids with greater financial independence and become self- dependent.
