In pro basketball, the Chicago Bulls team may always be remembered throughout NBA history for winning a stunning six NBA Championships. One of the most famous Chicago Bulls pro basketball players is Michael Jordan who was instrumental at guiding the team to those six championships. There was a period after the first three NBA Championships had been won when Jordan chose to retire because his father was murdered. But he later came back out of retirement and helped bring back the Chicago Bulls to prominence. One other player, Scottie Pippen, joined Jordan on all six championship Chicago Bulls matches. One tradition (wearing black socks with black basketball shoes) was introduced by the Chicago Bulls and later adopted by other teams starting in the 1999 playoffs.

Detroit Pistons

In pro basketball, it is recognized that the Chicago Bulls have an intense competitive relationship with another NBA team – the Detroit Pistons. This rivalry has even been supported by the Chicago Bulls fans. The rivalry between the two teams started when Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to the 1988 Conference Finals to confront the Detroit Pistons. Actually, Chicago fans carry over the rivalry with Detroit fans to the four major sports of North America. Though the Chicago Bulls also have a degree of rivalry with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks, the rivalry is greatest with the Detroit Pistons. Michael Jordan holds the most records among all the Chicago Bulls players due to his flexibility as a basketball player and team contributions.
