This substantial park was a dream- come- true for Daniel Burnham. In 1909, he considered the railroad property to be so untouchable that he developed the Grant Park portion of the plan around it
Sprawling over a vast area of 24.5 acres, the Millennium Park is a unique blend of architecture, monumental sculpture and landscape design. This is a world- famous park which displays the works of renowned architects, planners, artists and designers.
Frank Gehry, winner of the National Medal of Art added life to this outdoor concert venue. The Pavilion stands 120- feet high, the trellis support the sound system, which spans the 4,000 fixed seats and the Great Lawn, which accommodates an additional 7,000 people.
You can get glimpses of the Chicago skyline, Grant Park and Lake Michigan. You will be able to have panoramic views so make sure you bring your camera.
The new Boeing Galleries, gifted from The Boeing Company, adds much- needed formal space for public exhibitions to the park's mid- level terraces. The aim is to create such a destination so that everyone is compelled to view the ideas of living artists, providing a high quality historical, social and cultural context of the art and architecture of our time.
